Remnants Of Simon Discussion Number 38
NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL EP202026
200 PM MST Fri Oct 16 2026

Convection associated with Simon has rapidly diminished today. A
recent scatterometer pass indicated that Simon no longer has a
well-defined low-level center, and as a result, no longer meets the
criteria for classification as a tropical cyclone. Therefore, this
will be the final NHC advisory on Simon. The initial intensity is
estimated at 30 kt.

The remnants are expected to move northwestward today, steered by
the low- and mid-level flow between a trough to the west and a
mid-level ridge to the northeast. This motion should keep the
remnants moving parallel to the coast of Baja California Sur.
Dissipation is expected by late tonight or early tomorrow morning.
