...SPECIAL FEATURES...
Hurricane Rachel is centered near 20.5N 119.5W at 06/1500 UTC,
moving west at 7 kt. Estimated minimum central pressure is 977
mb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 75 kt with gusts to 90 kt.

convection is occurring from 18N-22N between 118W-122W. A westward to
west-northwestward motion is expected during the next few days, with
a sharp northeastward turn late this week. Some fluctuations in
intensity are possible the next day or so, with gradual weakening
is forecast the rest of the week. Swells generated by Rachel
will continue to affect the coast of the Baja California
Peninsula and portions of southern California for the next
several days. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening
surf and rip current conditions. Please consult products from
your local weather office.

coverage has been increasing in association with a broad area of
low pressure located offshore of southern Mexico. Currently, peak
winds are only near 20 kt and largest seas 7 ft. Scattered
moderate and isolated strong convection is occurring from 08N-17N
between 95W-105W. Environmental conditions appear favorable for
gradual development, and a tropical depression is likely to form
within the next day or two while the system moves slowly west-
northwestward to northwestward. Interests along the coast of
