DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 800 PM MST (0300 UTC), the center of Hurricane Rachel was located 
near latitude 20.2 North, longitude 114.8 West. Rachel is moving 
toward the west-northwest near 7 mph (11 km/h). A continued slow 
motion is expected for the next several days. 
 
Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 100 mph (155 km/h) 
with higher gusts.  Fluctuations in strength are possible 
overnight, but Rachel is expected to slowly weaken starting 
Monday.
 
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 40 miles (65 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles
(220 km).
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 967 mb (28.56 inches).
 
 
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND

SURF: Swells generated by Rachel will continue to affect the coast
of the Baja California Peninsula for the next couple of days.  
These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip 
current conditions.  Please consult products from your local weather 
office.
