DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Odalys was located near latitude 18.3 North, longitude 123.6 West. Odalys is moving toward the north-northeast near 5 mph (7 km/h). A northward motion is expected tonight through Saturday, followed by a turn toward the northeast on Sunday. An eastward to southeastward motion is forecast early next week. Maximum sustained winds are near 125 mph (205 km/h) with higher gusts. Odalys is a category 3 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. A weakening trend is forecast beginning tonight and continuing through early next week. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 125 miles (205 km).
