DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Marie was located near latitude 24.4 North, longitude 123.7 West. Marie is moving toward the northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h). A slight turn toward the west-northwest is forecast to occur soon. Marie is then expected to resume a northwestward heading at a faster forward speed by Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher gusts. Steady weakening is expected to continue for the next several days, and Marie is forecast to become a post-tropical remnant low Tuesday night or early Wednesday. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 986 mb (29.12 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Marie will continue to affect portions of the coast of the Baja California Peninsula and southern California for the next couple of days. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Please consult products from your local weather office.
