DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1100 AM HST (2100 UTC), the center of Hurricane Karina was located near latitude 20.6 North, longitude 141.1 West. Karina is moving toward the west near 10 mph (17 km/h). A turn toward the west-northwest and northwest is forecast over the next day or two. Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 85 mph (140 km/h) with higher gusts. Additional gradual weakening is expected during the next few days, and Karina is forecast to become post tropical by Monday. Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 40 miles (65 km) from the center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 150 miles (240 km).
