DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 200 AM PDT (0900 UTC), the center of Hurricane Marie was located
near latitude 19.9 North, longitude 117.1 West.  Marie is moving
toward the west-northwest near 9 mph (15 km/h), and a gradual turn 
toward the northwest is expected within the next couple of days.
 
Maximum sustained winds are near 100 mph (155 km/h) with higher
gusts.  Some strengthening is possible today, but a slow weakening 
trend is expected to begin on Saturday.
 
Hurricane-force winds extend outward up to 45 miles (75 km) from the
center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 185 miles
(295 km).  The Mexican Navy Weather station on Clarion Island 
recently reported sustained winds of 51 mph (81 km/h) and a wind 
gust to 70 mph (112 km/h). 
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 972 mb (28.71 inches).
 
 
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
SURF: Swells generated by Marie will continue to affect portions of
the coast of southwest Mexico and the Baja California Peninsula for
the next few days and are expected to spread northward to Southern
California through the weekend.  These swells are likely to
cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions.  Please
