DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 500 PM HST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Lala was
located near latitude 37.8 North, longitude 179.2 West.  Lala is
moving toward the north-northwest near 5 mph (7 km/h).  A gradual
turn toward the west-northwest is expected tonight.  On the
forecast track, Lala is expected to cross the International Date
line on Friday.
 
Maximum sustained winds have decreased to near 40 mph (65 km/h) 
with higher gusts.  Continued slow weakening is forecast, and Lala 
is likely to become a post-tropical low tonight. 
 
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km)
from the center.
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb (29.59 inches).
