DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 500 AM HST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Moke was located near latitude 15.5 North, longitude 160.2 West. The depression is moving toward the west near 14 mph (22 km/h). and this motion is expected to continue for the next day or two, taking the system farther away from the Hawaiian Islands. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Weakening is expected, and Moke is forecast to degenerate to a remnant low pressure area late today and dissipate on Tuesday. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches). RAINFALL: Tropical Depression Moke is expected to produce additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches through Monday across the Big Island and an additional 1 to 3 inches on eastern Maui. This rainfall may produce areas of flash flooding for the windward and southeast Big Island, especially in steep terrain and over areas that were affected recently by Lala. Flood prone and low lying locations, as well as urban areas may also see instances of flash flooding.
