782 ABPZ20 KNHC 201722 TWOEP Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 1100 AM PDT Thu Aug 20 2026 For the eastern and central North Pacific east of 180 longitude: Active Systems: The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Hurricane Lala, located just southeast of Lisianski Island, and on newly formed Tropical Depression Two-C, located about 1000 miles east-southeast of the Hawaiian Islands. South-Southwest of Mexico: A tropical wave located a few hundred miles south of the coast of southern Mexico is producing gusty winds, and disorganized showers and thunderstorms. Environmental conditions appear favorable for gradual development, and a tropical depression is likely to form this weekend or early next week while the system moves west-northwestward or northwestward, remaining well offshore of Mexico. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...20 percent. * Formation chance through 7 days...high...80 percent. Central East Pacific: A weak area of low pressure located several hundred miles south of the southern tip of the Baja California Peninsula is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
