monitor the progress of Lala.
 
 
DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 500 AM HST (1500 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Lala was 
located near latitude 20.4 North, longitude 163.4 West. Lala is 
moving toward the west near 12 mph (19 km/h). A westward motion is 
forecast through Tuesday, followed by a turn toward the 
west-northwest or northwest on Wednesday.
 
Maximum sustained winds are near 60 mph (95 km/h) with higher gusts. 
Fluctuations in intensity are possible over the next day or so. Some 
restrengthening is expected thereafter, and Lala is forecast to 
become a hurricane again by Wednesday.
 
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105 miles (165 km)
from the center.
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 997 mb (29.44 inches).
 
 
HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND
----------------------
SURF: Large waves generated by Lala will continue to trend down from 
east to west across the Hawaiian waters, but life-threatening surf 
and rip current conditions will persist through today. Please 
consult products from your local weather office.
