025 ABPZ20 KNHC 171145 TWOEP Tropical Weather Outlook NWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL 500 AM PDT Mon Aug 17 2026 For the eastern and central North Pacific east of 180 longitude: Active Systems: The National Hurricane Center is issuing advisories on Tropical Storm Lala, located a couple hundred miles west-southwest of Lihue, Hawaii. South of Mexico: An area of low pressure is likely to form several hundred miles south of the coast of southern Mexico towards the end of the week. Gradual development of this system is expected, and a tropical depression is likely to form by this weekend as the system moves west-northwestward while staying south of Mexico. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent. * Formation chance through 7 days...high...70 percent. Western Portion of the East Pacific: A broad area of low pressure could form well to the southeast of the Hawaiian Islands during the latter part of the week. Environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual development of this system, and a tropical depression could form towards the end of the week or over the weekend as the system moves generally westward across the western portion of the east Pacific and into the central Pacific. * Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent. * Formation chance through 7 days...medium...50 percent.
