DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Hernan was
located near latitude 17.3 North, longitude 131.9 West. Hernan is
moving toward the south near 6 mph (9 km/h) and this motion is
expected to continue into Friday. A gradual turn toward the
west-southwest is forecast Friday night into this weekend.
 
Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts.
A weakening trend is expected to begin later tonight and continue
through Friday, and Hernan is forecast to become a post-tropical
remnant low this weekend.
 
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km)
from the center.
 
The estimated minimum central pressure is 1003 mb (29.62 inches).
