DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 200 PM PDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Hernan was located near latitude 17.3 North, longitude 131.9 West. Hernan is moving toward the south near 6 mph (9 km/h) and this motion is expected to continue into Friday. A gradual turn toward the west-southwest is forecast Friday night into this weekend. Maximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts. A weakening trend is expected to begin later tonight and continue through Friday, and Hernan is forecast to become a post-tropical remnant low this weekend. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1003 mb (29.62 inches).
