DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 800 PM PDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Depression Eight-E was located near latitude 18.1 North, longitude 131.7 West. The depression is moving toward the west-northwest near 7 mph (11 km/h). A gradual turn to the west and southwest is expected over the next day or so. Maximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts. Some slight strengthening is possible during the next day or so, and the depression could become a tropical storm by Thursday. Weakening is expected to begin by Friday. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches).
