{"msg": "593\nAXPZ20 KNHC 311546\nTWDEP \nTropical Weather Discussion\nNWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL\n1605 UTC Sat Oct 31 2026\nTropical Weather Discussion for the eastern Pacific Ocean from\n03.4S to 30N, east of 120W including the Gulf of California, and\nfrom the Equator to 30N, between 120W and 140W. The following\ninformation is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,\nradar, and meteorological analysis.\nBased on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through\n1600 UTC.\n...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH...\nThe monsoon trough extends from 10N85W to 0N6130W. A 1011 mb low\nis near 07N137W. Scattered moderate convection is depicted S of \n11N and E of 135W. Scattered moderate to strong convection is S \nof 05N between 95W and 115W.\n...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO...\nFresh to strong N to NE gap winds are occurring over the Gulf of\nTehuantepec with seas of 5-8 ft. The pressure gradient between \nhigher pressures over Mexico and a trough along the Gulf of \nCalifornia is supporting moderate S to SE winds over southern \nportions of the Gulf. Elsewhere, winds are moderate or weaker \nwith 4-6 ft over the Pacific waters, 2-5 ft over the N and \ncentral Gulf of California.\nFor the forecast, fresh to strong N gap winds over the Gulf of \nTehuantepec will continue through early next week, diminishing \nMon night. A developing extratropical cyclone should move into \nthe waters west of the Baja California peninsula and over the N \nGulf of California tonight into Sun with fresh to strong SE to SW\nwinds and seas to 9 ft. Fresh to strong SW winds along with seas\nto 5 ft should occur over the Gulf of California on Sun in the \nwake of the extratropical cyclone. Moderate or weaker winds will \nlikely return to the offshore waters Sun into Mon. \n...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, \nAND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR...\nFresh NE to E gap winds are occurring over the Gulf of Papagayo \nregion with seas 5 to 7 ft. Moderate N winds along with seas of \n4 to 6 ft are present over the Gulf of Panama. Elsewhere, winds \nare moderate or weaker. Seas are 4-6 ft. Scattered moderate \nconvection is occurring S of 08N east of 93W.\nFor the forecast, fresh to strong NE to E gap winds over the \nGulf of Papagayo region should continue through Mon. Fresh N \nwinds over the Gulf of Panama should continue today before \nweakening on Sat. Large, long-period SW swell has reached the \nequatorial waters, and will gradually diminish on Sun. \n...REMAINDER OF THE AREA...\nA 1007 mb low is centered near 25N129W, with a cold front \nextending southwestward to 15N135W, and a warm front extending\nfrom the low to 25N123W. Fresh to strong northeast to east winds\nprevail north of the low with seas to 8 ft. Moderate southwest \nwinds are found along the cold front. Elsewhere, the pressure \ngradient between weak ridging north of the region and lower \npressure near the monsoon trough is supporting only moderate or \nweaker trades across the forecast waters. Large, long-period SW \nswell is expanding northward across the equator to 09N between \n87W-134W. Elsewhere, seas are 4-7 ft.\nFor the forecast, the low will become a strong extratropical \ncyclone and then move slowly eastward through the weekend. The \nsystem should move over the offshore zones west of the Baja \nCalifornia peninsula on Sun with winds and seas diminishing by \nSun night.\n", "title": "Eastern Pacific Tropical Weather Discussion", "id": "1223528193236238338", "issued": "2026-10-31T16:05:00Z", "wmo": "AXPZ20", "source": "NOAA/NWS National Hurricane Center, received via the National Weather Wire Service", "page": "https://hurricane.terrapin.com/text/1223528193236238338"}
