{"msg": "112\nAXPZ20 KNHC 301540\nTWDEP \nTropical Weather Discussion\nNWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL\n1605 UTC Fri Oct 30 2026\nTropical Weather Discussion for the eastern Pacific Ocean from\n03.4S to 30N, east of 120W including the Gulf of California, and\nfrom the Equator to 30N, between 120W and 140W. The following\ninformation is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,\nradar, and meteorological analysis.\nBased on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through\n1530 UTC.\n...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH...\nThe monsoon trough extends from 10N86W to 06N91.5W. The ITCZ is \nanalyzed from 06N91.5W to 07N117W. A trough extends from 06N128W\nto a 1010 mb low pres near 08N136W. Scattered to numerous\nmoderate convection is depicted from 02N to 09N between 131W and\n140W. Scattered moderate convection is depicted from 02N to 08N \nbetween 89W and 117.5W. Similar convection is also depicted from\n00N to 10N between 121W and 130W. \n...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO...\nFresh to strong N to NE gap winds are occurring over the Gulf of\nTehuantepec with seas 6-8 ft. The pressure gradient between\nhigher pressures over Mexico and a trough along the Gulf of \nCalifornia is supporting moderate to fresh S to SW winds over the\nsouthern and northern parts of the Gulf. Elsewhere, winds are \nmoderate or weaker with 5-7 ft over the Pacific waters, 2-4 ft \nover the N and central Gulf of California.\nFor the forecast, fresh to strong N gap winds over the Gulf of \nTehuantepec will continue through early next week and diminish by\nMon night. A developing extratropical cyclone should move into \nthe waters west of the Baja California peninsula and over the N \nGulf of California Sat night into Sun with fresh to strong SE to \nSW winds. Fresh SW winds should occur over the Gulf of California\non Sun in the wake of the extratropical cyclone. \n...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, \nAND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR...\nFresh NE to E gap winds are occurring over the Gulf of Papagayo \nregion. Moderate to fresh N winds along seas to 6 ft are present\nover the Gulf of Panama. Elsewhere, winds are moderate or \nweaker. Seas are 4-6 ft. Scattered moderate convection is also \noccurring from 00N-07N east of 83W.\nFor the forecast, fresh to strong NE to E gap winds over the \nGulf of Papagayo region should continue through Mon. Fresh N \nwinds over the Gulf of Panama should continue today before \nweakening on Sat. Large, long-period SW swell have reached the \nequatorial waters, and will diminish on Sun. \n...REMAINDER OF THE AREA...\nA 1008 mb low is centered near 26.5N135W with a developing cold\nfront extending southwestward to 15N146W and a developing warm\nfront extending northeastward to 26N126W. Northeast to east winds\nprevail north of the low with seas to 8 ft. Elsewhere, the \npressure gradient between weak ridging north of our waters and \nlower pressure over the monsoon trough is forcing only moderate \nor weaker trades across the forecast waters. Large, long-period \nSW swell is reaching northward across the equator to 07N between\n97W-130W. Elsewhere seas are 4-7 ft.\nFor the forecast, the low will become an extratropical cyclone  \nthis morning and then move slowly eastward. By tonight, fresh to\nstrong S to SW winds will develop south of the warm front and \nfresh to strong N to NE winds should occur north of the cold \nfront. The system should move over the offshore zones west of the\nBaja California peninsula on Sun with winds and seas diminishing\nby Sun night.\n", "title": "Eastern Pacific Tropical Weather Discussion", "id": "1223243875866935298", "issued": "2026-10-30T16:05:00Z", "wmo": "AXPZ20", "source": "NOAA/NWS National Hurricane Center, received via the National Weather Wire Service", "page": "https://hurricane.terrapin.com/text/1223243875866935298"}
