{"msg": "678\nAXNT20 KNHC 300603\nTWDAT \nTropical Weather Discussion\nNWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL\n0615 UTC Fri Oct 30 2026\nTropical Weather Discussion for North America, Central America\nGulf of America, Caribbean Sea, northern sections of South\nAmerica, and Atlantic Ocean to the African coast from the\nEquator to 31N. The following information is based on satellite\nimagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis.\nBased on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through \n0550 UTC.\n...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ...\nThe monsoon trough reaches the Atlantic through the coast of\nGuinea Bissau near 11N16W and continues to 08N25W. The ITCZ \nextends from 08N26W to 07N40W, where it is broken by a surface \ntrough. The ITCZ then resumes from 07N45W to 08N60W. Scattered \nmoderate convection is noted from 04N to 12N between 15W and 40W.\n...GULF OF AMERICA...\nHigh pressure over the Tennessee Valley extends a ridge into the \nnorthern Gulf. The pressure gradient tightens over the eastern \nhalf of the Gulf due to the presence of a frontal boundary\nnortheast of the Bahamas and a trough over the central Gulf\nextending into the northern Yucatan Peninsula. This is resulting \nin moderate to fresh NE to E winds east of 91W along with \nmoderate seas to 6 ft. Moderate or weaker winds prevail west of \n91W.\nFor the forecast, a tight pressure gradient between a high \npressure system over the Carolinas and low pressure over the \nBahamas will continue to support moderate to fresh northeast to \neast winds and moderate seas in the northeast and north-central \nGulf into early next week. Looking ahead, expect fresh southeast \nto south winds over much of the northwest Gulf by Tue night \nbetween high pressure over the western Atlantic and a cold front \nthat will be moving through the Southern Plains.\n...CARIBBEAN SEA...\nA frontal boundary over the SW N Atlantic waters is supporting a \nweak gradient over the Caribbean waters west of 77W, thus leading\nto light to gentle winds and slight seas. Moderate to fresh \ntrades and moderate seas are elsewhere due to the Azores High,\nwhich extends to 65W, and Puerto Rico NE adjacent waters. Recent \nscatterometer data indicate the presence of a surface trough \nextending from Jamaica to NW Colombia, which is supporting \nscattered showers in the Windward Passage and Jamaica southern\nadjacent waters.\nFor the forecast, moderate to locally fresh trades will continue \nsouth of 15N through the eastern, central and portions of the SW \nCaribbean through Sun night, then diminish. Light to gentle \nbreezes are forecast elsewhere into early next week.\n...ATLANTIC OCEAN...\nA warm front extends from 28N55W to 31N62W to a 1013 mb low near \n30N70W. A cold front extends from the low pressure to the central \nBahamas. Recent scatterometer data show fresh to strong NE winds\nin the northern semicircle of the low where scattered heavy\nshowers continue to shift northeastward to 60W. Scatt data also\nshow fresh NE winds elsewhere W of 70W N of the cold front and the\nBahamas. Farther east, a cold front extends from 31N26W to 25N35W\nto 26N44W where it transitions to a stationary front that\ncontinues to 28N57W where it transitions to a warm front. A\nreinforcing cold front extends from 31N30W to 29N41W. Scattered\nshowers are ahead of the leading front to 18W or Canary Islands\nwestern adjacent waters. Aside from the convection, fresh to\nstrong NNE winds follow the reinforcing front along with rough\nseas to 10 ft. Moderate or weaker winds are elsewhere.  \nFor the forecast west of 55W, fresh to strong northeast to east \nwinds along with rough seas to around 11 ft will persist north of \nthe front into next week as the low pressure moves northeastward \npast Bermuda, and the reinforced cold front moves southeastward \nand stalls near, or along 24N.\n", "title": "Atlantic Tropical Weather Discussion", "id": "1223130607099871234", "issued": "2026-10-30T06:15:00Z", "wmo": "AXNT20", "source": "NOAA/NWS National Hurricane Center, received via the National Weather Wire Service", "page": "https://hurricane.terrapin.com/text/1223130607099871234"}
