{"msg": "835\nAXNT20 KNHC 282104\nTWDAT \nTropical Weather Discussion\nNWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL\n0015 UTC Thu Oct 29 2026\nTropical Weather Discussion for North America, Central America\nGulf of America, Caribbean Sea, northern sections of South\nAmerica, and Atlantic Ocean to the African coast from the\nEquator to 31N. The following information is based on satellite\nimagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis.\nBased on 1800 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through \n2100 UTC.\n...SPECIAL FEATURES...\nGales and Significant Swell N of Bahamas: A tight pressure \ngradient between a 1032 mb high pressure system over New England \nand a stationary front extending from S of Bermuda to a 1010 mb \nlow just N of central Cuba is supporting fresh to near gale-force\nNE winds and rough to very rough seas N of the front and W of the\nlow. Winds are reaching minimal gale force near 31N73W. Scattered\nshowers and isolated thunderstorms are noted N of the front \nbetween 65W and 75W. Winds will start to diminish tonight, with \nstrong NE to E winds and rough to very rough seas persisting N of\n28N and W of 65W through Thu night as the low pressure moves \nsouthwestward and the front weakens. Mariners are urged to remain \nalert to these dangerous marine conditions and take the necessary \nprecautions to avoid these affected areas. \nPlease, see the latest NWS High Seas Forecast issued by the \nNational Hurricane Center at website \nhttps:www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/MIAHSFAT2.shtml for further details. \n...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ...\nThe monsoon trough reaches the Atlantic through the coast of\nAfrica near 12N16W and continues to 09N23W. The ITCZ extends from\n09N23W to 09N60W. Scattered moderate to isolated strong \nconvection is noted from 05N to 11N and between 29W and 59W.\n...GULF OF AMERICA...\nModerate to fresh winds, and moderate seas prevail E of 90W. W of\n90W, gentle to moderate winds and moderate seas are noted. \nFor the forecast, a tight pressure gradient between high pressure\nsystem over New England and a complex weather system over the Cay\nSal area of the Bahamas will continue to support fresh to strong \nNE to E winds and rough seas in the E Gulf into late this week. \nWinds and seas will gradually diminish into Sat as the ridge \nslides eastward. Looking ahead, another robust high pressure \nsystem will reach New England late this weekend and early next \nweek allowing winds and seas to increase in the NE Gulf. \nElsewhere, gentle to moderate winds and moderate seas will prevail\ninto early next week. Expect fresh SE to S winds over much of the\nGulf by Mon between high pressure over the western Atlantic and a\ncold front moving through the Southern Plains. \n...CARIBBEAN SEA...\nA weak pressure gradient is supporting gentle to moderate winds\nand slight to moderate seas. \nFor the forecast, a surface trough extends along 80W north of 15N\ninto central Cuba. The trough will drift westward and weaken over\nthe next couple of days. Ample tropical moisture and upper- level\ndivergence support scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms \nover the central Caribbean. Otherwise, moderate to locally fresh \ntrade winds in the E Caribbean will continue over the next few \ndays, gradually extending westward into the south- central \nCaribbean through the week and into the upcoming weekend. \n...ATLANTIC OCEAN...\nPlease see the Special Features section above for information on\na gale warning and significant swell causing very rough seas \nnorth of the Bahamas.\nAside from the conditions mentioned in the Special Features\nsection above, winds are moderate or weaker, with moderate seas.\nFor the forecast west of 55W, a tight pressure gradient between \nhigh pressure system over New England and a stationary front \nextending from SE of Bermuda to a 1010 mb low in the Cay Sal area \nof the Bahamas supports strong to gale-force NE winds and rough to\nvery rough seas north of the front. Scattered showers and \nisolated thunderstorms are occurring east of the Bahamas. Strong \nNE to E winds and rough to very rough seas will persist N of 28N \nand W of 65W through Thu night as the low pressure moves \nsouthwestward and the front weakens. Weak low pressure will \ndevelop southwest of Bermuda by Fri, then lift northeastward and \nreinforce the frontal boundary over the waters between the central\nBahamas and Bermuda. Expect fresh to strong NE-E winds and seas \nto 11 ft N of the front through early next week. \n", "title": "Atlantic Tropical Weather Discussion", "id": "1222756074291429378", "issued": "2026-10-28T00:15:00Z", "wmo": "AXNT20", "source": "NOAA/NWS National Hurricane Center, received via the National Weather Wire Service", "page": "https://hurricane.terrapin.com/text/1222756074291429378"}
