{"msg": "776\nAXNT20 KNHC 270009\nTWDAT \nTropical Weather Discussion\nNWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL\n0015 UTC Tue Oct 27 2026\nTropical Weather Discussion for North America, Central America\nGulf of America, Caribbean Sea, northern sections of South\nAmerica, and Atlantic Ocean to the African coast from the\nEquator to 31N. The following information is based on satellite\nimagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis.\nBased on 1800  UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery \nthrough 2345 UTC.\n...SPECIAL FEATURES...\nAtlantic Gale Warning: A tight pressure gradient between a 1029\nmb high pressure system over the eastern United States and a \nstationary front extending from near Bermuda to the NW Bahamas \nsupports a large area of strong winds, with frequent gusts to \ngale force, over most of the waters north of 27N and west of the\nfront. Rough to very rough seas in north to northeast swell \nfollow the front. The portion of the front east of 70W is \nexpected to begin to drift southeastward Tue through Wed night as\na cold front before becoming stationary again late this week. \nThe aforementioned ridge will shift slowly eastward into the \nnorth Atlantic during this time. The frequent gusts to gale-force\nwill diminish tonight, however, fresh to strong winds and rough \nto very rough seas in NE swell to the north of the front will \npersist through the period. Mariners are urged to remain alert to\nthese dangerous marine conditions and take the necessary \nprecautions to avoid these affected areas. Please, see the latest\nNWS High Seas Forecast issued by the National Hurricane Center \nat website https:www.nhc.noaa.gov/text/MIAHSFAT2.shtml for \nfurther details. \nHeavy Rainfall in the Northern Caribbean: Deep-layer troughing \nextending southward through the Bahamas into the northwestern\nCaribbean combined with abundant tropical moisture will support \nperiods of heavy rainfall over eastern Cuba, Hispaniola, the \nsouthern Bahamas, and the Turks and Caicos Islands into Wed.\nThe trough will gradually shift north and east through Wed while\nweakening. Very heavy rainfall will bring a potential for \ndangerous and life-threatening flash flooding, particularly over \nportion of eastern Cuba, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic. \nPlease refer to your local weather services and the International\nDesk at the Weather Prediction Center for more information.\n...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ...\nThe monsoon trough axis enters the Atlantic near 17N16W and \nextends southwestward to 09N21.5W and to 06N30W, where it \ntransitions to the ITCZ to 07N37W to 10N50W and to 11N60W.\nScattered moderate convection is within 60 nm north of the \ntrough between 24W-26W and within 30 nm south of the trough \nbetween 27W-29W.\n...GULF OF AMERICA...\nA tight pressure gradient between a 1029 mb high center over the\neastern United States and a stationary front extending into the \nBahamas supports fresh to strong northeast to east winds and \nrough seas over the eastern Gulf, including the Straits of \nFlorida. Moderate, or lighter winds along with moderate seas \ncontinue elsewhere.\nFor the forecast, the present weather pattern will persist into \nWed, followed by diminishing winds and seas into next weekend. \nElsewhere, gentle to moderate winds and moderate seas will \nprevail through at least Wed.\n...CARIBBEAN SEA...\nSee Special Features section above for information on heavy\nrainfall over eastern Cuba and Hispaniola. \nA mid to upper-level low located over eastern and central Cuba \ncombined with abundant deep tropical moisture continues to\nsupport pockets of scattered showers and thunderstorms across \nthe central Caribbean reaching northward to Hispaniola. Latest \nAscat scatterometer data passes indicate moderate northeast to\neast winds near the Windward Passage. Moderate to locally fresh \ntrades and moderate seas are present east of about 72W. Moderate\nto locally fresh northwest to north winds are also in the Gulf \nof Honduras along with seas 3 to 5 ft. Elsewhere, moderate or \nlighter trades along with slight to moderate seas remain.\nFor the forecast, the mid to upper-level low will drift eastward\nthrough Wed maintaining the chance of showers and thunderstorms \nover the same area. Meanwhile, a trough over the central \nCaribbean will drift westward over the next few days. A weak low \nmay develop along the trough axis. High pressure across the \neastern U.S. will continue to build southward across Florida and \nthe Gulf of America through Wed, leading to moderate to fresh N \nto NE winds and moderate seas across the western Caribbean west \nof the trough through Tue night. \n...ATLANTIC OCEAN...\nPlease see the Special Features section above for information\nabout a Gale Warning over the western Atlantic, and on heavy \nrainfall expected for the Turks and Caicos Islands and \nHispaniola.\nA tight pressure gradient between a 1029 mb high pressure system\nover the eastern United States and a stationary front extending \nfrom near Bermuda to the NW Bahamas supports a large area of \nstrong northeast winds, with frequent gusts to gale force, \nacross most of the waters north of about 27N and west of the \nfront. Rough to very rough seas in north to northeast swell \nfollow the front.\nSouth of the front, moderate to fresh southeast to south winds \nand rough to very rough seas are occurring and extend eastward to\n60W. Farther east, a cold front is analyzed from near 31N34W to \n28N44W, where it transitions to a stationary front northwestward \nfrom there to north of the area at 31N52W. Mostly moderate \neasterly winds and rough seas are north of 29N between 38W and \n53W. The remainder of the basin is under broad high pressure that\nsupports moderate to locally fresh trades winds south of about \n26N. Seas of 6 to 8 ft are over these waters. Light to gentle \nwinds and mostly moderate seas are elsewhere.\nScattered showers and thunderstorms are present from just north \nof Hispaniola to near 30N and between 66W and 75W. This activity \nis being sustained by upper-level divergence east of a broad mid\nto upper-level low noted over the Bahamas.\nFor the forecast west of 55W, the portion of the front east of \n60W is expected to move southeastward as a cold front through Thu\nwhile a stationary front will persist over the waters north of \n27N and west of 60W. A high pressure center will remain over the\neastern U.S. during this time. The frequent gusts to gale-force \nwill diminish by tonight, however, fresh to strong winds and \nrough to very rough seas in northeast swell will persist to the \nnorth of the front through Wed while gradually diminishing.\n", "title": "Atlantic Tropical Weather Discussion", "id": "1222211512897765383", "issued": "2026-10-27T00:15:00Z", "wmo": "AXNT20", "source": "NOAA/NWS National Hurricane Center, received via the National Weather Wire Service", "page": "https://hurricane.terrapin.com/text/1222211512897765383"}
