Isaias is expected to soon make\nlandfall along the coast of the western Florida panhandle within the\nnext hour or two as a damaging hurricane.\n\nPeak storm surge inundation of 6 to 9 feet above normally dry ground\nis possible along the coast of the western Florida panhandle, with the\nhighest values most likely east of Navarre.\n\nThose in the hurricane warning need to prepare for damaging hurricane\nforce winds of 74 to 110 mph, potentially stronger, especially across\ncoastal Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle. The strongest winds\nwill occur near and just to the east of the center. Potential impacts\nfrom these winds include numerous downed trees and power lines,\nsignificant power outages, and some roof damage. Tropical storm force\nwinds will spread well inland with hurricane force gusts likely into\nsouth central Alabama as the center of Isaias quickly moves north.\n\nRainfall totals of 4 to 8 inches are expected across southwest\nALabama, south central Alabama, and the western Florida Panhandle.\nLocalized amounts of 10 to 12 inches are possible in bands across the\nFlorida Panhandle and near the center track of the storm. Areas of\nflooding are likely if the higher amounts are realized, with\nconsiderable impacts possible.\n\nPOTENTIAL IMPACTS\n-----------------\n\n* SURGE:\nProtect against life-threatening surge having possible extensive \nimpacts across the coastal portions of the western Florida panhandle \nand Alabama. Potential impacts in this area include:\n - Large areas of deep inundation with storm surge flooding \n accentuated by battering waves. Structural damage to buildings, \n with several washing away. Damage compounded by floating \n debris. Locations may be uninhabitable for an extended period.\n - Large sections of near-shore escape routes and secondary roads \n washed out or severely flooded. Flood control systems and \n barriers may become stressed.\n - Severe beach erosion with significant dune loss.\n - Major damage to marinas, docks, boardwalks, and piers. Many \n small craft broken away from moorings, especially in \n unprotected anchorages with some lifted onshore and stranded.\n\nElsewhere across portions of southwest Alabama...south central \nAlabama...and inland southeast Mississippi, little to no impact is \nanticipated.\n\n* WIND:\nProtect against life-threatening wind having possible devastating \nimpacts across the western Florida Panhandle, portions of \nsouthwestern Alabama and portions of south central Alabama. Small streams, creeks, canals, and ditches may \n become dangerous rivers. Flood control systems and barriers may \n become stressed.\n - Flood waters can enter many structures within multiple \n communities, some structures becoming uninhabitable or washed \n away. Many places where flood waters may cover escape routes. \n Streets and parking lots become rivers of moving water with \n underpasses submerged. Driving conditions become dangerous. \n Many road and bridge closures with some weakened or washed out.\n\nProtect against dangerous rainfall flooding having possible limited \nto significant impacts across interior southeast Mississippi.\n\n* TORNADOES:\nProtect against a dangerous tornado event having possible significant \nimpacts across northwest Florida and south central Alabama.
