Isaias is \nforecast to turn northward on Friday and accelerate towards the \nnorthern Gulf Coast late Friday into early Saturday. As Isaias moves \ninland on Saturday, widespread impacts are expected across North and \nCentral Georgia, including a prolonged period of strong, gusty winds, \nheavy rainfall with localized flooding, and the potential for several \ntornadoes.\n\nThe wind field associated with Isaias is expected to expand\nconsiderably as the system moves inland over the Gulf Coast and up\nacross Mississippi and Alabama. Strong winds will extend well east of\nthe center, potentially into West-Central Georgia. A Tropical Storm\nWatch is in effect for this area where wind gusts of 40 to 50 mph will\nbe possible. Further north and east, while Isaias will be weakening\nand becoming post-tropical, there will be a very strong pressure\ngradient between the system and strong high pressure over the\nMid-Atlantic. This gradient will support a prolonged period of strong\neasterly winds with frequent gusts to 40 to 50 mph across most of\nNorth Georgia from early Saturday through early Sunday. A High Wind\nWatch has been issued for this area. The prolonged and strong winds\ncould lead to power outages from downed limbs and trees, especially\nwhen combined with saturated soils from periods of heavy rain. \n\nIsaias will bring widespread rainfall, with multiple bands of heavy\nrain expected Friday night through Sunday. Rainfall totals of 1 to\n3 inches are likely across much of the area, with localized amounts up\nto 5 inches possible. This rainfall could lead to localized flash\nflooding, particularly in urban and poor-drainge areas, as well as\nflood-prone creeks and streams. A Flood Watch has been issued for the\nentire area.\n\nAdditionally, as Isaias tracks northward and inland on Saturday, a\nfavorable environment for tornadoes will develop across North and\nCentral Georgia, and potentially linger into Sunday morning. Several\ntornadoes will be possible, particularly within the outer rainbands of\nthe system. These types of tornadoes typically develop quickly, and\ncould occur throughout the overnight hours Saturday night.\n\nPOTENTIAL IMPACTS\n-----------------\n\n* WIND:\nPrepare for hazardous wind having possible significant impacts across \nNorth and Central Georgia. Potential impacts in this area include:\n    - Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored \n      mobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about.\n    - Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or \n      uprooted, but with greater numbers in places where trees are \n      shallow rooted. Some fences and roadway signs blown over.\n    - A few roads impassable from debris, particularly within urban \n      or heavily wooded places. Hazardous driving conditions on \n      bridges and other elevated roadways.\n    - Numerous power and communications outages.\n\n* FLOODING RAIN:\nPrepare for dangerous rainfall flooding having possible significant \nimpacts across North and Central Georgia. Potential impacts include:\n    - Rainfall flooding may prompt several evacuations and rescues.\n    - Rivers and tributaries may quickly become swollen with swifter \n      currents and overspill their banks in a few places, especially \n      in usually vulnerable spots. Small streams, creeks, canals, \n      arroyos, and ditches overflow.\n    - Flood waters can enter some structures or weaken foundations. \n      Several places may experience expanded areas of rapid \n      inundation at underpasses, low-lying spots, and poor drainage \n      areas. Some streets and parking lots take on moving water as \n      storm drains and retention ponds overflow. Driving conditions \n      become hazardous. Some road and bridge closures.\n\n* TORNADOES:\nPrepare for a dangerous tornado event having possible significant \nimpacts across North and Central Georgia. Potential impacts include:\n    - The occurrence of scattered tornadoes can hinder the execution \n      of emergency plans during tropical events.\n    - Several places may experience tornado damage with a few spots \n      of considerable damage, power loss, and communications failures.\n    - Locations could realize roofs torn off frame houses, mobile \n      homes demolished, boxcars overturned, large trees snapped or \n      uprooted, vehicles tumbled, and small boats tossed about. \n      Dangerous projectiles can add to the toll.\n\nPRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS\n----------------------------------\n\n* EVACUATIONS:\nFollow the advice of local officials.\n\n* OTHER PREPAREDNESS INFORMATION:\nNow is the time to check your emergency plan and emergency supplies \nkit and take necessary actions to protect your family and secure your \nhome or business.\n\nWhen making safety and preparedness decisions, do not focus on the \nexact forecast track since hazards such as flooding rain, damaging \nwind gusts, and tornadoes extend well away from the center of the \nstorm.\n\nIf in a place that is vulnerable to high wind, such as near large \ntrees, a manufactured home, upper floors of a high-rise building, or \non a boat, plan to move to safe shelter.\n\nAlways heed the advice of local officials and comply with orders that \nare issued. Do not needlessly jeopardize your life or the lives of \nothers.\n\nWhen securing your property, outside preparations should be concluded \nas soon as possible before conditions deteriorate. The onset of \nstrong gusty winds or flooding can cause certain preparedness \nactivities to become unsafe.\n\nBe sure to let friends and family members know of your intentions for \nweathering the storm and your whereabouts. Have someone located away \nfrom the threatened area serve as your point of contact. Share vital \ncontact information with others. Keep cell phones handy and charged.\n\nCheck on those who may not be fully aware of the situation or who are \nunable to make personal preparations.\n\nIf you are a visitor, know the name of the county or parish in which \nyou are located and where it is relative to current watches and \nwarnings. If staying at a hotel, ask the management staff about their \nonsite disaster plan. Listen for evacuation orders, especially \npertaining to area visitors.\n\nClosely monitor weather.gov, NOAA Weather Radio and local news \noutlets for official storm information. Listen for possible changes \nto the forecast.\n\nThere is a threat from tornadoes with this storm. Have multiple ways \nto receive Tornado Warnings. Be ready to shelter quickly.\n\n* ADDITIONAL SOURCES OF INFORMATION:\n- For information on creating an emergency plan see ready.ga.gov\n- For information on appropriate preparations see ready.gov\n- For additional disaster preparedness information see redcross.org\n\nNEXT UPDATE\n-----------\n\nThe next local statement will be issued by the National Weather \nService in Peachtree City GA around 2AM, or sooner if conditions \nwarrant.\n\n"}
