Rachel is\nmoving toward the west-northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h). This general \nmotion is expected to continue over the next 24 hours, before a \nsharp turn to the northeast, along with an increase in forward \nspeed, is forecast to occur. \n \nMaximum sustained winds have decreased to near 70 mph (110 km/h) \nwith higher gusts. Continued gradual weakening is expected over the \nnext few days. \n \nTropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles (185 km)\nfrom the center.\n \nThe estimated minimum central pressure is 985 mb (29.09 inches).\n \n \nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\n----------------------\nKey messages for Rachel can be found in the Tropical Cyclone\nDiscussion under AWIPS header MIATCDEP3 and WMO header\nWTPZ43 KNHC.\n \nSURF: Swells partly generated by Rachel will build along the coast\nof Southern California and northern Baja California through the\nweekend.
