Rachel is moving toward \nthe northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h). A northwestward motion at a \nslower forward speed is expected during the next several days. On \nthe forecast track, the center of Rachel is predicted to move \nparallel to, but stay offshore of, the coast of southwestern \nMexico. \n \nMaximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher \ngusts. Gradual strengthening is expected during the next few days, \nand Rachel is forecast to become a hurricane later today. \n \nTropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 160 miles (260 km)\nfrom the center.\n \nThe minimum central pressure estimated from the NOAA Hurricane \nHunter aircraft data is 987 mb (29.15 inches).\n \n \nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\n----------------------\nKey messages for Rachel can be found in the Tropical Cyclone\nDiscussion under AWIPS header MIATCDEP3 and WMO header WTPZ43 KNHC.\n \nWIND: Tropical storm conditions are expected in the warning area\nlater today or tonight.
