Polo \nis moving toward the northeast near 13 mph (20 km/h) and this motion \nwith a gradual acceleration is anticipated through Tuesday. On the \nforecast track, the core of Polo will continue moving across Baja \nCalifornia Sur tonight, then move inland over southern Sonora \nTuesday morning.\n \nMaximum sustained winds are near 110 mph (175 km/h) with higher \ngusts.  Some weakening is expected while Polo travels over land \nduring the next few hours, but Polo is still expected to be a \nhurricane when it makes its second landfall in mainland Mexico. \nRapid weakening is forecast on Tuesday when Polo moves well inland \nover mainland Mexico.\n \nHurricane-force winds extend outward up to 40 miles (65 km) from\nthe center and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 105\nmiles (165 km).\n \nThe estimated minimum central pressure is 965 mb (28.50 inches).\n \n \nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\n----------------------\nKey messages for Polo can be found in the Tropical Cyclone\nDiscussion under AWIPS header MIATCDEP2 and WMO header WTPZ42 KNHC.\n \nWIND: Hurricane conditions will continue across Baja California Sur\nin the warning area during the next several hours, and these\nconditions are possible in the watch area tonight. In mainland\nMexico, hurricane conditions are expected in the warning area and\npossible in the watch area early Tuesday morning.\n \nA Wind Advisory is in effect for portions of southern New Mexico and\nfar western Texas where strong gusty winds are possible late Tuesday\nand Tuesday night in association with Polo\u2019s remnants. Refer to\nproducts issued by your local National Weather Service Forecast\nOffice for additional information.\n \nRAINFALL: Polo is expected to produce rainfall totals of 6 to 12\ninches across portions of Baja California Sur. Rainfall totals of 4\nto 6 inches with maximum totals of 8 expected across southern and\ncentral portions of Sonora.
