Gonzalo is\nmoving toward the north near 9 mph (15 km/h). A motion between \nnorth and north-northwest is expected to continue through the \nweekend, with a deceleration and a turn to the west-northwest \nexpected early next week. On the forecast track, the center will \ncontinue to move away from northeastern portions of the Cabo\nVerde Islands today.\n \nMaximum sustained winds remain near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher \ngusts. Weakening is anticipated, and Gonzalo could become a remnant \nlow or dissipate within the next 24 hours.\n \nTropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 185 miles (295 km)\nfrom the center.\n \nThe estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb (29.59 inches).\n \n \nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\n----------------------\nSURF: Swells generated by Gonzalo are expected to affect portions\nof the Cabo Verde Islands through today before diminishing Sunday.\nThese swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip\ncurrent conditions.
