In addition, \nthe system is producing a large area of showers and thunderstorms \nthat are also showing signs of organization. If these current trends \ncontinue, the system is likely to become a short-lived tropical \nstorm as soon as later tonight or on Friday while it moves \nnorthwestward to northward. Increasing upper-level winds, however, \nshould prevent further development over the weekend. Interests in \nthe Cabo Verde Islands should monitor the progress of this system as \ngusty winds, areas of heavy rain, and flash flooding are possible \nover the islands by Friday.
