Estimated minimum central pressure is\n996 mb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 50 kt with gusts to 60\nkt. Peak seas are 18 ft within 120 nm NE quadrant of the center.\nNumerous moderate to scattered strong convection is noted from\n14N to 20N and between 117W and 124W. Scattered moderate to isolated\nstrong convection is present from 09N to 14N and between 117W and\n121W. A general W motion is expected to continue over the next \nfew days. Scattered \nmoderate convection is found from 07N to 13N and between 95W and\n104W. Similar convection is occurring south of 13N and west of \n125W.\n...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO...\nPlease see the Special Features section for more information \nabout Tropical Storm Norbert located well SW of Baja California.\nA recent scatterometer satellite pass captured fresh to locally\nstrong northerly winds across the Gulf of Tehuantepec. Seas in\nthese waters are 5-7 ft. Elsewhere, high pressure north of the\narea extends extends southeastward to the Revillagigedo Islands.\nModerate easterly winds and moderate seas are occurring west of \nthe Revillagigedo Islands as Tropical Storm Norbert continues to \npull away. Elsewhere in the Mexican offshore waters, moderate or\nweaker winds and slight to moderate seas prevail.\nScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms continue to affect \nthe central and southern Gulf of California and the nearshore \nwaters of Baja California Sur. Gusty winds and higher seas are \nlikely occurring with these storms.\nFor the forecast, Tropical Storm Norbert is near 16.6N 123.3W at\n2 AM PDT, and is moving west at 13 kt. Maximum sustained winds \nare 50 kt with gusts to 60 kt, and the minimum central pressure \nis 996 mb. Norbert will move to 16.7N 125.0W this afternoon and \ncontinue to move westward away from the area. As Norbert moves\naway, a stronger ridge will build across the offshore waters of \nBaja California, bringing moderate to locally fresh NW to N winds \nSun into early next week. Winds will also increase across the \nnorthern Gulf of California today and tonight, then again Sun \nthrough Mon night due to the pressure gradient between the ridge \nand the meandering trough that is in place in that area. \nOtherwise, fresh to strong N to NE gap winds will pulse again \nearly next week.\nLooking ahead, showers and thunderstorms associated with a broad\narea of low pressure are located several hundred miles southwest\nof the southwestern coast of Mexico.
