Lowell is\nmoving toward the west near 12 mph (19 km/h). A general westward\nmotion is forecast to continue for the next day or so. Then, the\nsystem is expected to slow down and turn northwestward this\nweekend.\n \nMaximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts.\nLittle change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours. A\nslight increase in strength could occur on Saturday.
