The ITCZ extends from 10N40W to \n09N59W. Aside from convection noted in the tropical waves section\nabove, scattered moderate and isolated strong convection is noted\nfrom 06N to 13N E of 20W. Scattered moderate convection is noted\nfrom 07N to 12N between 30W and 38W.\n \n...GULF OF AMERICA...\nA weak pressure gradient is over the discussion waters supporting\ngentle to locally moderate winds. These winds are generating\nmainly slight seas over the Gulf waters. \nFor the forecast, weak high pressure will persist into early next\nweek, supporting mostly light to gentle winds and slight seas. \nWinds will pulse to fresh with moderate seas off the western \nYucatan Peninsula during the evenings due to a diurnal surface \ntrough moving westward from the peninsula each night.\n...CARIBBEAN SEA...\nThe pressure gradient between high pressure N of the area \nand the Colombian low is supporting fresh to strong trade winds \nand rough seas over the south-central Caribbean. Gentle to\nmoderate winds, and slight too locally moderate seas, are over \nthe NW Caribbean. Moderate to fresh winds and moderate seas cover \nthe remainder of the Caribbean waters. \nFor the forecast, the western Atlantic ridge extends E to W along\nabout 26N to the NW Bahamas. The pressure gradient between the\nridge and the Colombian low will support fresh to strong winds\nthrough early next week. Moderate to rough seas will prevail over\nthese waters. Elsewhere, moderate or weaker winds and slight to \nmoderate seas will prevail.\n...ATLANTIC OCEAN...\nA cold front enters the forecast region near 31N50W and continues\nwestward to near 28N60W where it becomes stationary to near \n29N70W. Scattered moderate convection is in the vicinity of the\nfront. Moderate to fresh winds are noted S of 25N and W of 50W.\nModerate to fresh winds are also over the far NE portion of the\ndiscussion waters, in the vicinity of the Canary Islands eastward\ntoward the coast of Africa. Light to gentle winds dominate the\nremainder of the discussion waters. Moderate seas prevail over\nmuch of the area. \nFor the forecast west of 55W, the cold front over the NE waters \nwill shift east of the area today. High pressure ridging will \nbuild across the region in the wake of the front. Light to gentle \nwinds are expected in the vicinity of the ridge, N of 21N. \nModerate to fresh winds S of 21N will diminish slightly by this \nweekend. \n", "title": "Atlantic Tropical Weather Discussion", "id": "1209003931720941570", "issued": "2026-09-10T12:15:00Z", "wmo": "AXNT20", "source": "NOAA/NWS National Hurricane Center, received via the National Weather Wire Service", "page": "https://hurricane.terrapin.com/text/1209003931720941570"}
