Lowell is \nmoving toward the north near 15 mph (24 km/h). A slow turn toward \nthe northwest then west is forecast Wednesday into Thursday. Then, \na slower forward speed is expected on Thursday and Friday before \nLowell turns back toward the northwest then north late this week.\n \nMaximum sustained winds have decreased to near 70 mph (110 km/h) \nwith higher gusts. Gradual weakening is forecast during the next few \ndays.\n \nTropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 255 miles (405 km)\nfrom the center.\n \nThe estimated minimum central pressure is 978 mb (28.88 inches).\n \n \nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\n----------------------\nKey messages for Lowell can be found in the Tropical Cyclone\nDiscussion under AWIPS header HFOTCDCP4 and WMO header WTPA44\nPHFO.\n \nRAINFALL: Additional rainfall of 1 to 3 inches are expected across\nthe Big Island and eastern Maui with isolated maximum amounts of 5\ninches possible across the Big Island. This may result in additional\nflooding of urban and low-lying portions of the Big Island.\nAdditional rainfall of 2 inches or less is expected elsewhere across\nthe island chain.
