Lowell is\nmoving toward the north near 15 mph (24 km/h).  This general motion \nis forecast through today, taking the core of Lowell farther from\nKauai County.  Lowell is then forecast to turn toward the northwest\nand west and slow down on Wednesday and Thursday after passing the\nmain Hawaiian Islands.\n \nMaximum sustained winds have decreased to near 75 mph (120 km/h) \nwith higher gusts.  Gradual weakening is forecast during the next \nfew days.\n \nHurricane-force winds extend outward up to 60 miles (95 km) from the\ncenter and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 205 miles\n(335 km).\n \nThe estimated minimum central pressure is 979 mb (28.91 inches).\n \n \nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\n----------------------\nKey messages for Lowell can be found in the Tropical Cyclone\nDiscussion under AWIPS header HFOTCDCP4 and WMO header WTPA44\nPHFO.\n \nRAINFALL: Hurricane Lowell is expected to produce additional \nrainfall totals of 1 to 3 inches for Kauai, with maximum storm \ntotals of 24 inches possible. For the Big Island, an additional 3 to \n6 inches of rain is expected with isolated storm totals of 8 inches \npossible.
