The following\ninformation is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,\nradar, and meteorological analysis.\nBased on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through\n1500 UTC.\n...SPECIAL FEATURES...\nMarie is no longer considered a tropical storm due to a lack of\ndeep convection, and is now post-tropical. Marie is centered \nnear 25.8N 127.4W at 08/1500 UTC, moving west- northwest at 8 kt.\nEstimated minimum central pressure is 1000 mb. Despite no longer\nbeing a tropical storm, maximum sustained wind speed is still 35\nkt with gusts to 45 kt. Peak seas are near 19 ft. No significant\nthunderstorm activity is evident near Marie, and the low level \ncenter remains fully exposed due to strong shear aloft. Marie is \nexpected to turn more northwestward as it finds itself wedged \nbetween a cutoff low descending from the northeast Pacific and a \nhigh pressure system centered over the southwestern US. Swells \ngenerated by Marie will continue to affect portions of the coast \nof the Baja California Peninsula and southern California for the \nnext couple of days. These swells are likely to cause life- \nthreatening surf and rip current conditions. The wave\nis moving westward at 10 to 15 kt. Scattered moderate convection\nis evident from 04N to 06N between 80W and 82W.\n \nA tropical wave has its axis along 91W north of 03N. It is \nmoving westward at 10 to 15 kt. Convection near the tropical wave\nis described below in the ITCZ/Monsoon Trough section.\nA tropical wave from 05N to 17N has been relocated to 111W. It \nis moving westward at about 10 kt. Convection near the tropical wave\nis described below in the ITCZ/Monsoon Trough section.\n...INTERTROPICAL CONVERGENCE ZONE/MONSOON TROUGH...\nThe monsoon trough axis extends from 10N85W to 08N100W to 1007 mb\nlow pressure near 15N112W, and to beyond 10N140W. Numerous\nmoderate to isolated strong convection is active from 10N to 14N\nbetween 85W and 105W. Scattered moderate convection is from 06N \nto 15N between 110W to 115W, and from 10N to 15N between 122W and\n129W.\n...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO...\nA weak pressure gradient across the region due to the presence of\nTropical Storm Marie to the west of the Baja California Peninsula\nis supporting mainly gentle to moderate NW winds off Baja, and\nlight to gentle winds along with slight seas in the Gulf of\nCalifornia. Clusters of showers and thunderstorms are active off\nChiapas and Oaxaca, beyond 90 nm. Otherwise, moderate to fresh \nwinds are pulsing in Tehuantepec.\nFor the forecast, the showers and thunderstorms off Chiapas and\nOaxaca are associated with broad area of low pressure located \nseveral hundred miles southwest of southwestern Mexico. This\nactivity has the potential for gradual development, and a tropical\ndepression could form later this week while the system moves \ngenerally west- northwestward at 10 to 15 kt. Regardless of \ndevelopment, this system will bring at least moderate to strong \nwinds to the offshore waters of Jalisco and the Revillagigedo \nIslands today through Wed night. Otherwise, fresh to locally \nstrong winds will pulse in the Gulf of Tehuantepec through Fri.\n...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF CENTRAL AMERICA, COLOMBIA, \nAND WITHIN 750 NM OF ECUADOR...\nFresh to strong northeast to east winds are in the Gulf of \nPapagayo region. Seas there are 5 to 7 ft in southwest swell.\nGentle to moderate S to SE winds are across the offshores between\nEcuador and the Galapagos Islands along with slight to moderate\nseas. Otherwise, moderate or weaker winds along with slight to \nmoderate seas are elsewhere.\nFor the forecast, high pressure north of the area will support \nfresh to strong easterly winds, and moderate to rough seas across\nthe Gulf of Papagayo region through Sat. This swell area is forecast to expand \neastward through Wed as the primary swell direction becomes \nnorthwest to north. Seas from this swell are expected to be 7 to \n9 ft. To the east, showers and thunderstorms associated with a \nbroad area of low pressure located several hundred miles \nsouthwest of southwestern Mexico are showing signs of \norganization.
