The following\ninformation is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,\nradar, and meteorological analysis.\nBased on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through\n0920 UTC.\n...SPECIAL FEATURES...\nTropical Storm Marie is centered near 25.5N 126.6W at 08/0900\nUTC, moving west-northwest at 7 kt. Estimated minimum central\npressure is 996 mb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 40 kt with\ngusts to 50 kt. Peak seas are near 20 ft. Latest satellite \nimagery continue to show a sheared Marie, with its center exposed\nto the northwest of widely scattered moderate convection in the \nSE quadrant from 18N to 26N between 122W and 126W. Marie is \nforecast to move west-northwest over the next few days, and is \nforecast to become a post-tropical remnant low later today or \nWed. Swells generated by Marie will continue to affect portions \nof the coast of the Baja California Peninsula and southern \nCalifornia for the next couple of days. These swells are likely \nto cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions. Scattered moderate convection is \nfrom 00N to 15N west of 120W.\n...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO...\nA weak pressure gradient across the region due to the presence of\nTropical Storm Marie to the west of the Baja California Peninsula\nis supporting mainly gentle to moderate NW winds off Baja, and\nlight to gentle winds along with slight seas in the Gulf of\nCalifornia. A broad area of low pressure located several hundred\nmiles southwest of southwestern Mexico with potential to develop\ninto a tropical cyclone later in the week is supporting moderate\nto fresh winds off Jalisco and south of the Revillagigedo\nIslands. Otherwise, moderate to fresh winds are pulsing in\nTehuantepec. \nFor the forecast, showers and thunderstorms associated with the \nbroad area of low pressure located several hundred miles \nsouthwest of southwestern Mexico have the potential for gradual \ndevelopment, and a tropical depression could form later this week\nwhile the system moves generally west-northwestward at 10 to 15 \nkt. Regardless of development, this system will bring at least \nmoderate to strong winds to the offshore waters of Jalisco and \nthe Revillagigedo Islands today through Wed night.
