{"msg": "420\nAXNT20 KNHC 061602\nTWDAT\nTropical Weather Discussion\nNWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL\n1815 UTC Sun Sep 6 2026\nTropical Weather Discussion for North America, Central America\nGulf of America, Caribbean Sea, northern sections of South\nAmerica, and Atlantic Ocean to the African coast from the\nEquator to 31N. The following information is based on satellite\nimagery, weather observations, radar and meteorological analysis.\nBased on 1200 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through \n1600 UTC.\n...TROPICAL WAVES...\nThe axis of a tropical wave is near 24W, south of 20N, moving W \nat 10 to 15 kt. Scattered moderate convection is noted from 06.5N\nto 12.5N between the wave axis and 27W.\nThe axis of a tropical wave is near 39N, south of 20N, moving W \nat around 10 to 15 kt. Scattered convection is along the wave \naxis.\nThe axis of a tropical wave is near 69.5W, south of 19N, moving W\nat around 10 to 15 kt. Scattered showers are noted from 16N to \n21N between 63W and 70W. \nThe axis of a tropical wave is near 80W, and extends from central\nCuba southward into the far eastern Pacific. The wave is moving\nwest at around 10 kt. No significant convection is noted in the \nCaribbean waters with this wave.\n...MONSOON TROUGH/ITCZ...\nThe monsoon trough enters the Atlantic near 19.5N16.5W and \ncontinues southwestward to 06.5N27W, then westward to near \n07N37W. The ITCZ continues from 07N37W to near 07N54W. Convection\nis limited across the area, aside from the areas noted in the \ntropical waves section above.\n \n...GULF OF AMERICA...\nA mid to upper level trough is supporting scattered moderate\nconvection over the central and northern Gulf. Similar convection\nis depicted over the eastern Gulf in association to a surface \ntrough over Florida. High pressure prevails across the Gulf \nregion, anchored by a 1014 mb high pressure centered near 26N87W. \nLight to gentle winds are in the vicinity of the high center. \nGentle to moderate winds are over the SW Gulf. Mainly gentle winds\nprevail elsewhere. Slight seas dominate the forecast waters. \nFor the forecast, weak high pressure will persist across the Gulf\nbasin through the period, supporting light to gentle winds and \nslight seas over much of the waters. Winds will pulse to fresh \nwith moderate seas off western Yucatan during the evenings due to \na diurnal surface trough moving west off the Yucatan peninsula \neach night.\n...CARIBBEAN SEA...\nThe pressure gradient between high pressure to the north and the\nColombian low is supporting fresh to locally strong trade winds \nand moderate seas offshore Colombia, and in the Gulf of \nVenezuela. Moderate to fresh winds are elsewhere over the central\nCaribbean. Gentle to moderate winds and slight to moderate seas \nprevail elsewhere. \nFor the forecast, the western Atlantic ridge extends E to W along\nabout 25N into south Florida. The pressure gradient between this \nsubtropical ridge and the Colombian low is supporting fresh to \nlocally strong trades and moderate seas over the south-central \nCaribbean. The pressure gradient will begin to tighten starting \nMon, leading to a broader area of strong winds, locally near- gale\nforce, and rough seas, early through mid week. Elsewhere, \nmoderate or weaker winds and slight to moderate seas will prevail \nthrough the middle of next week. \n \n...ATLANTIC OCEAN...\nA mid level trough is supporting numerous showers and scattered\nthunderstorms north of 24N and between 73W and 19.5W. The \nremainder of the Atlantic forecast region is under the influence \nof high pressure, anchored by a 1018 mb high centered near \n25N55W. Light to gentle winds prevail near the high center, as \nwell as along the ridge extending from the high along 23N. A \nstronger area of high pressure, 1027 mb, is centered north of the\narea near 36N22W. The pressure gradient between this area of high\npressure, and the monsoon trough is supporting fresh to strong winds\nN of the monsoon trough and east of 30W. Elsewhere, moderate \nwinds prevail. Seas across the forecast area are in the moderate \nrange.\nFor the forecast west of 55W, weak high pressure extends from the\ncentral Atlantic westward along about 25N and into south Florida \nthis morning, and will gradually shift eastward through early next\nweek. This pattern will maintain a weak pressure gradient across \nthe regional waters, and support moderate or weaker winds and \nmoderate seas. A weak cold front will approach the northern waters\nthen stall along 30N-31N during the first part of next week. \n", "title": "Atlantic Tropical Weather Discussion", "id": "1207960009896165378", "issued": "2026-09-06T18:15:00Z", "wmo": "AXNT20", "source": "NOAA/NWS National Hurricane Center, received via the National Weather Wire Service", "page": "https://hurricane.terrapin.com/text/1207960009896165378"}
