The following\ninformation is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,\nradar, and meteorological analysis.\nBased on 1800 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through\n2000 UTC.\n...SPECIAL FEATURES...\nHurricane Karina is centered near 19.8N 137.6W at 03/2100 UTC,\nmoving west at 9 kt. Estimated minimum central pressure is 969\nmb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 90 kt with gusts to 110 kt.\nPeak seas are near 40 ft. Numerous moderate to isolated strong\nconvection is noted from 18N to 22N between 135W and 139W. A more\nWNW motion is expected over the next couple of days. Karina is a\ncategory 2 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale.\nGradual weakening is forecast during the next several days. \nHowever, Karina is expected to remain a hurricane for the next \ncouple of days. \nHurricane Marie is centered near 19.3N 115.5W at 03/2100 UTC,\nmoving west at 8 kt. Estimated minimum central pressure is 976\nmb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 80 kt with gusts to 100 kt.\nPeak seas are near 38 ft. Numerous moderate to isolated strong\nconvection is noted from 15N to 23N between 108W and 117W. A more\nWNW motion is expected through this weekend. Some strengthening\nis forecast over the next day or so, followed by gradual\nweakening this weekend. Swells generated by Marie will affect \nportions of the coast of southwest Mexico and the Baja California\nPeninsula for the next few days and will likely spread northward\nto southern California over the weekend. The\nexception near the Gulf of Papagayo, where fresh gap winds are\nongoing. \nFor the forecast, a moderate pressure gradient across Central \nAmerica will sustain fresh E winds over the Gulf of Papagayo into\nearly next week.
