The following\ninformation is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,\nradar, and meteorological analysis.\nBased on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through\n0305 UTC.\n...SPECIAL FEATURES...\nHurricane Karina is centered near 19.3N 134.7W at 03/0300 UTC,\nmoving west-northwest at 9 kt. Estimated minimum central\npressure is 947 mb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 115 kt with\ngusts to 140 kt. Peak seas remain around 42 ft. Numerous \nmoderate to scattered strong convection is observed from 17N to \n22N between 133W and 137W. A west-northwestward motion is \nexpected over the next few days. A slow weakening trend is \nforecast the next few days, followed by a more steady rate of \nweakening. Karina is likely to remain a hurricane the next couple\nof days.\nHurricane Marie is centered near 18.4N 113.1W at 03/0300 UTC,\nmoving west-northwest at 9 kt. Estimated minimum central\npressure is 985 mb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 70 kt with\ngusts to 85 kt. Peak seas are around 33 ft. Numerous moderate to\nscattered strong convection is noted from 12N to 22N between \n106W and 117W. This motion should continue through tonight \nfollowed by a turn more west-northwestward for the next several \ndays. Additional strengthening is forecast through Friday. \nGradual weakening is anticipated to begin by this weekend. Swells\ngenerated by Marie will affect portions of the coast of southwest\nMexico and the Baja California Peninsula for the next few days \nand will likely spread northward to southern California over the \nweekend. These swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf \nand rip current conditions.
