Marie is \nmoving toward the northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h). This motion \nshould continue through tonight followed by a turn more \nwest-northwestward for the next several days.\n \nMaximum sustained winds are near 70 mph (110 km/h) with higher \ngusts. Additional strengthening is forecast through Friday, and \nMarie is likely to become a hurricane tonight. Gradual weakening is \nanticipated to begin by this weekend.\n \nTropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 185 miles (295 km)\nfrom the center.\n \nThe estimated minimum central pressure is 992 mb (29.30 inches).\n \n \nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\n----------------------\nSURF: Swells generated by Marie will affect portions of the coast of\nsouthwest Mexico and the Baja California Peninsula for the next few\ndays and will likely spread northward to southern California over\nthe weekend.
