Karina is \nmoving toward the west-northwest near 12 mph (19 km/h) and a \nwestward to west-northwestward motion is expected over the next few \ndays.\n \nMaximum sustained winds are near 140 mph (220 km/h) with higher \ngusts.  Karina is a category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson \nHurricane Wind Scale. A slow weakening trend is forecast the next \nfew days, followed by a more steady rate of weakening.
