The following\ninformation is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,\nradar, and meteorological analysis.\nBased on 0000 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through\n0350 UTC.\n...SPECIAL FEATURES...\nHurricane Karina is centered near 18.3N 130.8W at 02/0300 UTC,\nmoving west at 10 kt. Estimated minimum central pressure is 946\nmb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 120 kt with gusts to 145 kt.\nPeak seas are around 29 ft. Numerous moderate to scattered \nstrong convection is noted from 16N to 22N between 128W and \n133W. Karina is a category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson \nHurricane Wind Scale. Gradual weakening is expected during the \nnext several days.\nTropical Storm Marie is centered near 16.1N 110.3W at 02/0300\nUTC, moving northwest at 8 kt. Estimated minimum central\npressure is 994 mb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 55 kt with\ngusts to 65 kt. Peak seas are around 18 ft. Numerous moderate to\nscattered strong convection is noted from 04N to 20N between \n102W and 116W. Additional strengthening is expected during the \nnext few days, and Marie is expected to become a hurricane on \nWednesday. Swells generated by Marie will affect portions of the coast\nof southwest Mexico and the Baja California Peninsula for the next\nfew days and will likely spread northward to southern California\nover the weekend.  These swells are likely to cause\nlife-threatening surf and rip current conditions.
