The following\ninformation is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,\nradar, and meteorological analysis.\nBased on 0600 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through\n0950 UTC.\n...SPECIAL FEATURES...\nHurricane Karina is centered near 18.0N 127.9W at 01/0900 UTC,\nmoving west-northwest at 9 kt. Estimated minimum central\npressure is 945 mb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 120 kt with\ngusts to 145 kt. Peak seas are around 36 ft. Numerous moderate \nto scattered strong convection is noted from 16N to 22N between \n125W and 130W. Karina is a category 4 hurricane on the Saffir-\nSimpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Fluctuations in intensity are \npossible through Tuesday morning followed by a gradual weakening \ntrend beginning by late Tuesday. Swells generated by Karina will\naffect portions of the coast of southwest Mexico and the Baja \nCalifornia Peninsula for the next couple of days and will likely \nspread northward to southern California through midweek. These \nswells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current \nconditions. Marie is moving toward the northwest near 9 kt, \nand this general motion is expected to continue during the next \ncouple of days.
