For a\ndepiction of areas at risk, please see the National Weather\nService Storm Surge Watch/Warning Graphic, available at\nhurricanes.gov.  This is a life-threatening situation.  Persons\nlocated within these areas should take all necessary actions to\nprotect life and property from rising water and the potential for\nother dangerous conditions. Edouard is\nmoving toward the west-northwest near 7 mph (11 km/h).  A\nwest-northwestward to northwestward motion is forecast during the\nnext day or two.  On the forecast track, the center of Edouard\nis predicted to reach the northwestern Gulf Coast within the\nwarning area on Tuesday and move inland over southeast Texas on\nTuesday night.\n \nMaximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts.\nStrengthening is likely and Edouard could approach hurricane \nstrength before it reaches the northwest Gulf coast on Tuesday. \nRapid weakening is expected after the center moves inland. \n \nTropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 25 miles (35 km)\nfrom the center.\n \nThe estimated minimum central pressure based on data form an Air \nForce reconnaissance aircraft is 1005 mb (29.68 inches).\n \n \nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\n----------------------\nKey messages for Tropical Storm Edouard can be found in the\nTropical Cyclone Discussion under AWIPS header MIATCDAT5 and WMO\nheader WTNT45 KNHC.\n \nWIND: Tropical storm conditions are expected to reach the coast\nwithin the warning area by Tuesday morning.  Hurricane conditions \nare possible within the Hurricane Watch area on Tuesday. \n\nSTORM SURGE: The combination of storm surge and tide will cause\nnormally dry areas near the coast to be flooded by rising waters\nmoving inland from the shoreline. The water could reach the\nfollowing heights above ground somewhere in the indicated areas if\nthe peak surge occurs at the time of high tide...\n \nHigh Island, TX to Vermilion/Cameron Parish Line, LA...3-5 ft\nVermilion/Cameron Parish Line, LA to Morgan City, LA...1-3 ft\n \nThe deepest water will occur along the immediate coast near and to\nthe right of the center. Surge-related flooding depends on the\nrelative timing of the surge and the tidal cycle, and can vary\ngreatly over short distances. For information specific to your\narea, please see products issued by your local National Weather\nService forecast office.\n \nFor a complete depiction of areas at risk of storm surge inundation,\nplease see the National Weather Service Peak Storm Surge Graphic,\navailable at hurricanes.gov/graphics_at5.shtml?peakSurge.\n \nRAINFALL: Edouard is expected to produce rainfall totals of 3 to 6 \ninches with maximum totals up to 9 inches for parts of the Upper \nTexas Coast inland through east-central Texas, with potential for 2 \nto 3 inches in far southwest Louisiana. This rainfall is likely to \nproduce flash flooding, especially in low-lying and urban areas. \nRiver flooding may also be possible.\n\nFor a complete depiction of forecast rainfall associated with TS \nEdouard, please see the National Weather Service Storm Total \nRainfall Graphic available at\nhurricanes.gov/graphics_at5.shtml?rainqpf and the Flash Flood Risk \ngraphic at hurricanes.gov/graphics_at5.shtml?ero.\n \nNEXT ADVISORY\n-------------\nNext intermediate advisory at 100 AM CDT.\nNext complete advisory at 400 AM CDT.\n \n"}
