The \ndepression is moving toward the west-northwest near 6 mph (9 km/h). \nA west-northwestward to northwestward motion is forecast during the \nnext couple of days. On the forecast track, the center of the system \nis predicted to reach the northwestern Gulf Coast within the warning \narea on Tuesday and move inland over southeast Texas on Tuesday \nnight.\n \nMaximum sustained winds are near 35 mph (55 km/h) with higher gusts.\nStrengthening is expected, and the depression is likely to become a\ntropical storm this evening.\n \nThe estimated minimum central pressure is 1011 mb (29.86 inches).\n \n \nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\n----------------------\nKey messages for Tropical Depression Five can be found in the\nTropical Cyclone Discussion under AWIPS header MIATCDAT5 and WMO\nheader WTNT45 KNHC.\n \nWIND: Tropical storm conditions are expected to reach the coast\nwithin the warning area by Tuesday morning, making outside\npreparations difficult or dangerous.\n \nSTORM SURGE: The combination of storm surge and tide will cause\nnormally dry areas near the coast to be flooded by rising waters\nmoving inland from the shoreline. The water could reach the\nfollowing heights above ground somewhere in the indicated areas if\nthe peak surge occurs at the time of high tide...\n \nHigh Island, TX to Vermilion/Cameron Parish Line, LA...2-4 ft\nVermilion/Cameron Parish Line, LA to Morgan City, LA...1-3 ft\n \nThe deepest water will occur along the immediate coast near and to\nthe right of the center. Surge-related flooding depends on the\nrelative timing of the surge and the tidal cycle, and can vary\ngreatly over short distances. For information specific to your\narea, please see products issued by your local National Weather\nService forecast office.\n \nFor a complete depiction of areas at risk of storm surge inundation,\nplease see the National Weather Service Peak Storm Surge Graphic,\navailable at hurricanes.gov/graphics_at5.shtml?peakSurge.\n \nRAINFALL: Tropical Depression Five is expected to produce rainfall\ntotals of 3 to 6 inches with maximum totals of 9 inches for parts of\nthe Upper Texas Coast inland through east-central Texas, with\npotential for 2 to 3 inches in far Southwest Louisiana. This\nrainfall is likely to produce flash flooding, especially in\nlow-lying and urban areas. River flooding may also be possible.\n \nFor a complete depiction of forecast rainfall associated with TD\nFive, please see the National Weather Service Storm Total Rainfall\nGraphic available at hurricanes.gov/graphics_at5.shtml?rainqpf and\nthe Flash Flood Risk graphic at\nhurricanes.gov/graphics_at5.shtml?ero.\n \n \nNEXT ADVISORY\n-------------\nNext intermediate advisory at 700 PM CDT.\nNext complete advisory at 1000 PM CDT.\n \n"}
