Karina is moving\ntoward the west near 9 mph (15 km/h), and this motion is\nexpected to continue through the rest of today. A turn toward the\nwest-northwest is forecast on Tuesday.\n \nMaximum sustained winds have decreased to near 130 mph (215 km/h)\nwith higher gusts. Karina is a category 4 hurricane on the\nSaffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. Fluctuations in intensity\nremain possible today, and a gradual weakening trend is expected to\nbegin on Tuesday.\n \nHurricane-force winds extend outward up to 30 miles (45 km) from the\ncenter and tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 115 miles\n(185 km).\n \nThe estimated minimum central pressure is 950 mb (28.06 inches).\n \n \nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\n----------------------\nSURF: Swells generated by Karina will affect portions of the coast\nof southwest Mexico and the Baja California Peninsula for the next\ncouple of days and will likely spread northward to southern\nCalifornia on Monday through midweek.
