{"msg": "881\nABNT20 KNHC 310531\nTWOAT \nTropical Weather Outlook\nNWS National Hurricane Center Miami FL\n200 AM EDT Mon Aug 31 2026\nFor the North Atlantic...Caribbean Sea and the Gulf of America:\nNorthern Gulf of America (AL97):\nAn area of low pressure over the northern Gulf of America, located \nmore than 100 miles south of the coast of southern Louisiana  \ncontinues to produce a small but concentrated area of showers and \nthunderstorms. Earlier satellite wind data indicated that the \ncirculation has not become much better defined from yesterday while \nproducing winds of 30 to 35 mph. Regardless, additional development \nis anticipated as the low moves slowly west-northwestward, and a \nshort-lived tropical depression or tropical storm is likely to form \nbefore the system reaches the Upper Texas or southwestern Louisiana \ncoasts by tonight or Tuesday morning.\nInterests along the southwest Louisiana and Upper Texas coasts \nshould monitor the progress of this system, as tropical storm \nwatches or warnings could be required for portions of the area later \ntoday. Regardless of development, this system is expected to bring \nlocally heavy rainfall to portions of the Upper Texas and \nsouthwestern Louisiana coasts during the next several days. An Air \nForce Reserve reconnaissance aircraft is scheduled to investigate \nthe system later this morning. Additional information on this \nsystem, including gale warnings, can be found in High Seas Forecasts \nissued by the National Weather Service.\n* Formation chance through 48 hours...high...70 percent.\n* Formation chance through 7 days...high...70 percent.\nNear Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands (Remnants of Dolly):\nThe remnants of Tropical Storm Dolly, a surface trough of low \npressure, continues to produce an area of showers and thunderstorms \nfrom Hispaniola eastward to the northern Leeward Islands. Strong \nupper-level winds are expected to prevent redevelopment of this \nsystem over the next day or two while it moves quickly westward to \nwest-northwestward at 20 to 25 mph. Conditions could become more \nconducive for redevelopment by the middle of the week as the system \nreaches the southern Bahamas or Florida Straits. Regardless, the \nsystem could bring locally heavy rains and gusty winds to portions \nof the Leeward Islands, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and \nHispaniola over the next couple of days.\n* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent.\n* Formation chance through 7 days...low...20 percent.\n&&\nHigh Seas Forecasts issued by the National Weather Service\ncan be found under AWIPS header NFDHSFAT1, WMO header FZNT01 \nKWBC, and online at ocean.weather.gov/shtml/NFDHSFAT1.php\n", "title": "Atlantic Tropical Weather Outlook", "id": "1206137342267883523", "issued": "2026-08-31T06:00:00Z", "wmo": "ABNT20", "source": "NOAA/NWS National Hurricane Center, received via the National Weather Wire Service", "page": "https://hurricane.terrapin.com/text/1206137342267883523"}
