Additional \ndevelopment is possible as the low moves slowly west-northwestward, \nand a short-lived tropical depression or tropical storm could form \nbefore the system reaches the Upper Texas or southwestern Louisiana \ncoasts Tuesday or Tuesday night. Interests along the Louisiana and \nUpper Texas coasts should monitor the progress of this system. \nRegardless of development, locally heavy rainfall is possible over \nportions of the Upper Texas or southwestern Louisiana coasts during \nthe next couple of days.\n* Formation chance through 48 hours...medium...50 percent.\n* Formation chance through 7 days...medium...50 percent.\nNear Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands (Remnants of Dolly):\nA strong tropical wave, the remnants of Tropical Storm Dolly, is \nproducing an area of showers and thunderstorms from Puerto Rico \neastward across the Virgin Islands and the northern Leeward Islands. \nSatellite data and surface observations indicate that there are no \nsigns of a closed surface circulation, and redevelopment is unlikely \nduring the next day or two while the wave moves westward to \nwest-northwestward at about 25 mph. The system should bring locally \nheavy rains and gusty winds to portions of the Leeward Islands, the \nVirgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and Hispaniola over the next couple of \ndays. Conditions may become more conducive for redevelopment by the \nmiddle of the week as the system reaches the southeastern Gulf of \nAmerica.\n* Formation chance through 48 hours...low...near 0 percent.\n* Formation chance through 7 days...low...20 percent.\n", "title": "Atlantic Tropical Weather Outlook", "id": "1206007127120183299", "issued": "2026-08-30T18:00:00Z", "wmo": "ABNT20", "source": "NOAA/NWS National Hurricane Center, received via the National Weather Wire Service", "page": "https://hurricane.terrapin.com/text/1206007127120183299"}
