Karina is\nmoving toward the northwest near 13 mph (20 km/h) and this\ngeneral motion is expected to continue over the next couple of days \nfollowed by a turn more westward. \n \nMaximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts. \nStrengthening is forecast and Karina is likely to become a hurricane \nover the weekend. \n \nTropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 230 miles (370 km)\nfrom the center.\n \nThe estimated minimum central pressure is 999 mb (29.50 inches).\n \n \nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\n----------------------\nSURF:  Swells generated by Tropical Storm Karina will begin to\naffect portions of the coast of southwest Mexico and the Baja\nCalifornia Peninsula this weekend.
