Moke is\nmoving toward the west-northwest near 8 mph (13 km/h), and this\ngeneral motion is expected during the next day or two. On the\nforecast track, the center of the storm is expected to pass south of\nthe Big Island of Hawaii this weekend, then south of the smaller\nmain Hawaiian Islands early next week.\n \nMaximum sustained winds are near 45 mph (75 km/h) with higher gusts.\nGradual strengthening is forecast during the next day or two, \nfollowed by a steady weakening trend as the storm passes well south \nof the smaller main Hawaiian Islands early next week.\n \nTropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 175 miles (280 km)\nfrom the center.\n\nThe minimum central pressure is 999 mb (29.50 inches) based on data\nfrom an Air Force Reserve reconnaissance aircraft.\n \nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\n----------------------\nKey messages for Tropical Storm Moke can be found in the Tropical\nCyclone Discussion under AWIPS header HFOTCDCP3 and WMO header\nWTPA43 PHFO.\n \nWIND: Gusty winds are expected across the Hawaiian Islands this\nweekend, especially in areas of high terrain.\n \nRAINFALL: Moke is expected to produce rainfall totals of 5 to 10\ninches with maximum amounts of 15 inches across the Big Island.\nRainfall totals of 1 to 2 inches with maximum amounts of 4 inches\nare expected on eastern Maui. For the remainder of the islands, 1 to\n2 inches of rain are possible.
