Lala is \nmoving toward the west-northwest near 16 mph (26 km/h). A westward \nmotion is forecast through Tuesday night, followed by a turn toward \nthe west-northwest on Wednesday.\n \nMaximum sustained winds are near 65 mph (100 km/h) with higher \ngusts. Little intensity change is expected through Monday. Some \nrestrengthening is forecast thereafter, and Lala could become a \nhurricane again on Tuesday or Wednesday.\n \nTropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (220 km)\nfrom the center.\n \nThe estimated minimum central pressure is 994 mb (29.36 inches).\n \n \nHAZARDS AFFECTING LAND\n----------------------\nKey messages for Lala can be found in the Tropical Cyclone\nDiscussion under AWIPS header HFOTCDCP2 and WMO header WTPA42 PHFO.\n \nWIND: Tropical storm conditions, especially in gusts, are ongoing \nacross portions of Maui County, Oahu, and Kauai County, with the \nstrongest winds occurring in areas of higher terrain. Wind speeds \natop mountains and on the windward and leeward slopes are often up \nto 30 percent stronger than the near-surface winds indicated in this \nadvisory, and in some elevated locations could be even greater.\n \nRAINFALL: Outer bands from Lala are expected to produce additional \nrainfall of 1 to 2 inches across windward portions of the Big Island \nand windward Maui, with maximum storm totals of 30 to 40 inches over \nthe windward Big Island. Across the remainder of the island chain an \nadditional 2 to 4 inches of rainfall is expected, with isolated \nadditional totals around 6 inches.
