The following\ninformation is based on satellite imagery, weather observations,\nradar, and meteorological analysis.\nBased on 1800 UTC surface analysis and satellite imagery through\n2100 UTC.\n...SPECIAL FEATURES...\nTropical Depression Hernan is centered near 15.6N 132.1W at\n14/2100 UTC, stationary. Estimated minimum central pressure is \n1006 mb. Maximum sustained wind speed is 30 kt with gusts to 40 \nkt. Peak seas are around 11 ft or 3.5 m. Hernan has scattered \nmoderate and isolated strong convection within 180 NM in the NE \nsemicircle. Hernan is expected to turn toward the west and and \nmove at a faster forward motion tonight into Saturday. Scattered moderate and isolated strong \nconvection is noted north of 04N east of 90W, from 03N-11N\nbetween 94W-104W, from 04N-16N between 110W-132W, and from\n17N-20N between 121W-130W.\n...OFFSHORE WATERS WITHIN 250 NM OF MEXICO...\nFresh to locally strong N gap winds are occurring over the Gulf\nof Tehuantepec this afternoon. Elsewhere winds are moderate or \nweaker. Sea are 5-7 ft over the Gulf of Tehuantepec, 4-6 ft over \nthe remaining Pacific waters, and 1-3 ft over the Gulf of \nCalifornia. No significant deep convection is occurring over the\nMexican offshore zones.\nFor the forecast, high pressure over the Gulf of America will \ncontinue to force pulses of fresh to strong with locally near-\ngale N winds over the Gulf of Tehuantepec for the next several \ndays. Additionally, moderate to fresh NW winds are forecast off \nof the Baja California peninsula through Mon night. Scattered moderate \nand isolated strong convection is noted north of 04N east of 90W.\nFor the forecast, high pressure over the W Caribbean is \ncontributing toward fresh to strong E gap winds over the Gulf of\nPapagayo region through Sun night before weakening early next \nweek. Long-period SW swell with seas of 7-8 \nft are occurring south of 03N west of 95W. Elsewhere seas are 5-7\nft in mixed SW and NE swell. Scattered moderate and isolated \nstrong convection is noted from 17N-20N between 121W-130W in \nassociation with an upper-level trough.\nFor the forecast, Hernan will move to 15.5N 133.2W Sat morning, \nbecome a remnant low and move to 15.4N 135.1W Sat afternoon, \n15.4N 137.2W Sun morning, 15.4N 139.5W Sun afternoon, 15.5N \n141.7W Mon morning, and dissipate Mon afternoon. An area of low \npressure could form several hundred miles south of the coast of \nsouthern Mexico early next week.
