Also, scatterometer data \nreceived after the last advisory suggested the circulation is losing \ndefinition. The cyclone is in an environment of 40-45 kt of westerly \nvertical shear and a dry mid-level airmass, and thus significant \nconvective re-development appears unlikely. Based on these \ndevelopments, Fausto is being downgraded to a remnant low pressure \narea.\n \nFausto continues west-northwestward with an initial motion of 290/11 \nkt. This general motion should continue until the system dissipates, \nas the shallow circulation is steered mainly by the tradewind flow \nsouth of the subtropical ridge. The forecast track keeps the \nremnants well to the north of the Hawaiian Islands.\n\nThe dynamical models forecast the remnant low to persist for another \n36 h or so, and after that it should degenerate to a open trough. \nThis is reflected in the intensity forecast.\n\nThis is the last advisory on Fausto. For additional information on \nthe remnant low please see High Seas Forecasts issued by the \nNational Weather Service, under AWIPS header NFDHSFEPI, WMO header \nFZPN02 KWBC, and on the web at ocean.weather.gov/shtml/NFDHSFEPI.php\n\n \nKey Messages:\n \n1. Surf generated by Fausto is building westward across the Hawaiian \nIslands along exposed east-facing shores and will remain dangerous \ntoday as Fausto passes north of the islands.  Large surf and strong \ncurrents will lead to dangerous conditions along exposed shores.  \nPlease consult products from your local weather office.\n \n \nFORECAST POSITIONS AND MAX WINDS\n \nINIT  29/1500Z 23.8N 155.6W   30 KT  35 MPH...POST-TROP/REMNT LOW\n 12H  30/0000Z 24.1N 157.4W   25 KT  30 MPH...POST-TROP/REMNT LOW\n 24H  30/1200Z 24.6N 160.0W   25 KT  30 MPH...POST-TROP/REMNT LOW\n 36H  31/0000Z 25.3N 162.5W   20 KT  25 MPH...POST-TROP/REMNT LOW\n 48H  31/1200Z...DISSIPATED\n \n"}
